The social status of the person. Types of statuses.

Social status is the position of man in society, which he holds in accordance with their age, gender, origin, profession, marital status.

The components of social status:

Status rights and responsibilities (define what the carrier of the status it can do and what it should do)

Status range (specified limits, which are status rights and duties of the individual)

Status symbols (external distinctions allowing to distinguish between native speakers of different statuses: soldiers wear uniforms, etc.)

Status image (image) (a set of ideas about how to look and act individual in accordance with his status)

Status identification (determine the degree of conformity of the individual to his status)

Types of social statuses:

Statuses are determined by the position of the individual in the group:

· Social status – position in society, which he takes as the representative of a large social group in relationship with other groups

· Personal status – status of the individual in a small group, depending on how it is appreciated by its members in accordance with its personal qualities

Statuses defined time frame, the impact on the life of the individual as a whole

· Main status (specifies the main in a person's life)

· Non-core (related to the details of human behavior)

· Prescribed status (social position, which are pre-prescribed to the individual by society regardless of personal merits)

· Achieved status (acquired through free choice, personal effort and is under human control)
