Methods of control of jet engine parts during the production process

A characteristic feature of the aviation industry in General and aeroengine production in particular, is the large number and complexity of control operations and testing of technology. The number of staff reaches control services in the industry 25..30% of the main workers, compared to 10 to 15% in engineering overall.

Control subject to the geometric parameters of the engine parts and their physico-mechanical properties - tensile strength, hardness, impact strength, macro and microstructure, as well as the continuity of the component material.

The scope and nature of control operations

Details of the aircraft equipment in accordance with the degree of their responsibility may be subject to various types of inspection and testing. Depending on the volume and nature of the test item should be related to one of the groups of the control, specified in the industry standard OST 1.00021-78 “Group control of parts subjected to thermal and chemical-thermal processing”. Control group details the designer shall appoint in consultation with the chief Metallurgist. The standard defines 6 groups control for parts subjected to heat treatment, and 2 groups of control for parts subjected to chemical-thermal treatment.
